Michael Jackson -The KING OF POP dies at 50

Michael Jackson, is dead is the first thing that i heard today while my husband was switching channels to confirm the news and to our disbelief and shock it was true. And my heart became heavy to lose the best entertainer the world has ever seen. With his monster hits like Thriller, Billie Jean, Black or White, Heal the World, Bad, Dangerous, Beat it, History, Jam, Childhood,Earth Song,Scream, Smooth Criminal, Say Say Say, Rockin' Robin....just to name a few, his popularity lasted for decades.

MJ was a very dominant figure in the early 80's and was referred to as the KING OF POP. Truly his music influenced not only a generation of singers and songwriters but us specially during our teens as we grew up trying to mimic his signature dance, his all time popular Moon Walk. Oh, I still remember our class did a break dance in my 5th standard on one of my fav song Black or white for my school annual day function. His songs as i listen to them takes me back to my childhood days. I remember his music videos were aired on MTV. His songs were at the tip of our tongue. Even the word DANCE had a new synonym. DANCE meant Michael Jackson. With his stage performances and music videos, MJ popularized a number of physically complicated dance moves of which the popular one's are the Moon Walk and Robot. I see these steps been copied by a lot of people specially in the Bollywood by our Actors like Prabhu Deva, Govinda, Javed Jaffery. He had a very different musical sound and style which i will say as his Trademark. His Album " Thriller" is the worlds best selling record of all times and i am proud to say i have saved my copy.

His achievements include holding the Guinness World record for the 'Most Successful Entertainer of All Time', 13 Grammy Awards, 13 no 1 singles, one of the few artists to be into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice. As a child he faced lot of abuses, physical and mental, from his father but he was a child with great musical gifts. His childhood abuses were so traumatizing that in his latter years, during his many interviews he openely cried while talking about it. Jackson showed his musical talent early, during his childhood by performing in front of his classmates, later joining the band with his brothers and naming the band as THE JACKSON 5. From leaving the band in the 1975, to his best seller and ever popular album Thriller, bleaching his skin, to falling into controversy of child abuse, and now his Death, Michael Jackson still remains the heartthrob of many music lovers and will be ever remembered for his contribution and the revelation he brought to the world of Pop Music.

As we remember him as Man who loves his fans, surely this is what he would wish to leave us with:

Heal The World
Make It A Better Place
For You And For Me
And The Entire Human Race
There Are People Dying
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Better Place
For You And For Me

Srilankan Cricket Players under the terror attacks

We say Lets Make Peace but let me ask HOW!! Attack after attack. Yesterday if its Mumbai, today its Srilanka. This time its the Lankan Cricket Team who are targeted in the terror attack in Lahore. Shooting reported near Lahore . Gunman tried to enter the premises of the Gaddafi Stadium. Terrorist were carrying rocket launchers, grenades. They were wearing masks, have come in white color car and bikes. NDTV and Times Now reports Several Team Members were shot and injured where 6 cricketers have been injured and 2 moved to hospital and attacked in the shootout this morning. Reports state that Mahela jayawardhene and kumara sangakkara have minor injuries. Sangakkara has been shot on the shoulders. 5 policemen killed. cavalcade of lankan team targeted. Sources said Chaminda Vaas, Taranga paranavitana, Samaraweera and Ajantha Mendis also to be injured.Samaraweera shot in the chest. Srilankan Cricketer including Muralitharan safe. Srilankan Cricketers were injured in the chest and leg. Governor of Punjab has promised to capture or kill the terrorist and will take Srilankan Team out of the country by a helicopter. He has also declared officially that 'All the cricketers are safe'. Though they have suffered minor injuries but none is critical at the moment. He also admits that it was a sophisticated and well trained attack. This is a planned attack. 12 militants opened up fire while players were in the bus on their way to the stadium on the 3rd day of Srilanka -Pakistan Test Match. Several loud explosions have been heard from the area of encounter. The Match has been called off after the attack. Police has cordoned off the area. Van carrying the umpires were also attacked.4th umpire Ahsan Raza also injured. An eye witness said that terrorist were around 20-25 yrs old. Allegations are coming that the same set of people who attacked Mumbai are responsible for Lankan attack in Lahore also.

This has seriously affected the International Cricket. Already Pakistan was a big NO No for playing cricket. Recently India and earlier West Indies pulled out to play in Pakistan and now am sure nobody will turn back. But Hats off to srilanka for coming up and showing its solidarity and see this is the result of it!! If India wouldn't have refused to play in Pakistan, who knows it would have been the Indian Players instead of the Lankans. This should be the end of cricket in Pakistan at least for quite a few months.

What more does Pakistan have to justify about its image to the world. As its rightly said what more will a beggar have to lose. Pakistan has lost his credibility because of its aggressive attitude that it keeps on putting in front to the world. How long will Pakistan defend itself. This clearly reflects their weakness. STOP THE BLAME GAME!! When will Pakistan understand that innocent are becoming victims. i want to ask how much is the zardari government in control and who will answer for all this? Pakistan is facing a serious security issue. Lahore is a heart of the political and cultural center and its sad to say that there is no security for such places. This is not the first time but several times Pakistan has remained a testimony for such crimes.

Now we are a left with a big question ARE WE SAFE?? Pakistan has promised for 100% security to the players. Why is that the buses weren't bullet proof. Will the same kind of protection be given to our players during World Cup also? 2011 world cup now will have to be looked over.

What do you thing..Has Pakistan become an International Headache. Cast your vote below

Magic of Mumbai

Mumbai is under much talks since the 26/11 terrorist attacks but a place known for its versatility. I am 2 months old to this place only but i feel so connected to this place already. I stay in Navi Mumbai but i rather love to call it Bombai or Mumbay. Its a mix of old and the new with people from old mumbai and new bees like us. People are moving to Navi Mumbai because, the reason i think is beauty of it lends a scenic aura to home. When my friends call me to ask how do you find Mumbai. i could say Navi Mumbai is just like my home in Delhi.

Mumbai Slums have actually attracted my attention after my visit to Old Bombay and possibly more because of the Oscar Winning Movie 'Slumdog Millionaire' I stay in Harbor Line but as you start to cross Vashi, it brings a sigh in my heart to leave Navi Mumbai but join with the real life of Mumbai. I have people say Dilli dilwalo ka, Mumbai paisewalo ka (translated as : Delhi is of people with a heart and Mumbai with cash). Taking a train was a rare moment for me while i was in Delhi until the Delhi Metro came ( Delhi Metro is the best thing that Delhites ever got..thanks to Sheila Dikhshit) but when i came to Mumbai it was really hard for me to gulp down the fact of traveling in Mumbai trains which is jam packed all through the year, in all seasons. But i got the opportunity to rub shoulders with the local Mumbaikars several times in the local train but i remember the experience i had traveling all alone from Nerul to Andheri. But i made sure i had the following in my purse:

1) Cash - to survive if i am not able to get back home that day
2) My Husband Visiting Card- fear of getting lost in the crowd was haunting me and by any chance if my purse gets lost or stolen and if in case it gets into the hands of angelic person and returns my purse after seeing the address
3) Deodorant- The strongest one
4) Tissues and foundation- Having an oily skin is a curse and on top of that crushed train travel means its the most essential of the lot( i think i should list this first)
5) One dozen of confidence ( to catch the train if its moving) and a Kilo of hope to reach back home safe- I must appreciate the system of having ladies compartment. I feel so proud being a girl. I always take the first class ticket but hella so expensive. I will make my plea to Lalu yadav to reduce the prices of 1st class ticket. I was charged Rs 228 for my travel from Nerul to Andheri. Gosh ..just imagine how many zinger burgers can you have with that ...4 or 5??? wowww....lol!!!

Another thing that initially surprised me, and is a common practice in the 1st class ladies compartment is when the ladies they come in the train, they will in an order ask " Excuse me, Where will you get Down?" and i tell my station but i wonder why did they ask which i later came to know is that these girls make a booking for their seat with the person who gets down next...smart move...but then i started thinking if that passenger gets down then what is the proof you have that you booked that place??? As i was feeling so proud of my question, i got the answer to it, when suddenly at the next station another Girl gets in and started asking the same question. Boiiiiiiii...what crap i thought..will i have to answer these girls till i reach home?? Then this new girl ( we will call her girl A and girl who already booked as Girl B), Girl A stopped at the lady who gets down next and makes a booking with her. Girl B suddenly crashes in between Girl A and the Lady and says i have already booked this place. That made me clear about the system. Lalu Yadav should take note of this..he can have counters in the compartment for a meager amount for the booking. This gives an equal chance for all the girls to get the seat than some females dominating...haha. And then you must see her face, looks as if a bee bit her face...round as a pani puri..lol..grrrhhhhhhh and both the girls gave that stare into each others eyes for long 5 secs.

But after everything i love Mumbai. A city where anything and everything is possible specially the impossible. I see people have the mindset to help you at any time. They provide you with more info than what you require.

Here are some facts that i have noticed of a Mumbaikar

1) You speak in a dialect of Hindi..which is believed to be the clear hindi but named as mumbaiya hindi which only the mumbaikars understand
2) Train Timings will be 7.09, 3.12 etc and you treat as an important part of your life
3) You will need only one paper bag to fit in groceries worth Rs 500
4) You are happy to stay in a one room apartment worth Rs 10,000 and still call it heaven
5) You have a set of people whom you call 'train friends' apart from your college friends, school friends, neighborhood friends
6) Being alone makes you feel nervous
7) You will never find a vada pao stall empty late night also
8) You will find 2 beds, 2 almirah, 1 sofa set, 1 study table, steel suitcases touching the roof, 1 sewing machine, TV in an 8'x 10' room and still manage to sweep the floor easily
9) Your meaning of private space is 'Please dont stand on my toes' and that too has to be requested
10) Your door will surely have more than 3 locks
11) You are a fashion freak.
12) You like calling CST as VT and Sahara or Santacruz airport than Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport
13) You spend more on traveling than at home.
14) You first read the supplement of a newspaper than the main newspaper
15) Since you know mumbai is the 5th most expensive city in the world so you proudly compare it with New York's Manhattan

I am sure there is much more to add but this is out of my experience.

All this reminded me of the famous song;

Aye dil hai mushkil jeena yahan,
zara hat ke, zara bach ke,
Ye hai Mumbai meri Jaan!!

Pink-Color of my Life

Over the past, i am deluged with the color pink. Everywhere i see the colour pink and anything i see in pink starts to attract my attention. I have started realising lately that my wardrobe is full of pink dresses. Yes you got it right, the color that you get by mixing red and white. The color that every girl has an eye on and every woman will kill for and so do i.

Pink has been accepted as a baby girl color and is still the balloon color of choice for proud parents who want to announce the birth of their baby girl. Though my parents did not do this but my brother pet named me as 'Pinky'. My history of "Pink" is following ever since my birth and to my surprise, as i write this blog, i am wearing a pink pajama...uff this is too much. But i have to confess, i had gone heights when i wore a pink lehenga, pink hairband, pink socks, pink sandals, pink watch in my 2nd grade for a wedding( Gossssshhhhhhh) I get goosebumps thinking of it. Why didnt anyone tell me that i looked like a circus clown. Let me be positive, maybe they found me like a Barbie ..Ahem Ahem...Have you noticed, Barbie mostly come in the shades of pink which resembles feminism. If not the Barbie sometimes, there packing always has a pink to it.Hey by the way...don't miss out on Barbie's Birthday next month-9th March. She turned 50!!! My My..She looks so cherubic still.

Wikipedia says until the 1940s, pink was considered more appropriate for boys because being closely related to red it was the more masculine and decided color, while blue was considered appropriate for girls because it was the more delicate and dainty color. The societal norm apparently inverted in 1940's so that pink became appropriate for girls and blue for boys

I remember my friend singing the song on color. The lyrics were something like this...

Pink is my favorite color,
Pink on the chest of my lover..

We used to laugh our guts out. She used to sing the VIBGYOR as per her mood..( Can someone tell me if that's an album number??)

Since this color is dangling around me all the time, i decided to do more research on it and apparently the first thought that came to my mind was why do we use the term Pink Slip to dismiss an employee from the company...sounded strange. No one exactly knows how this term was coined. Its been said that American Workers, decades back were given Pink Slips where notices were printed on pink paper. but what's bothering me is why PINK in color?? Why not Red, Yellow, green or simply the white one. I think its just symbolic than been literal. This practice is now not followed. All we know for sure is that the Oxford English Dictionary’s oldest citation for the term “pink slip” comes from a 1915 pulp novel about baseball. Beyond that, the origins of “pink slip” are anybody’s guess. (Source= Internet)

While listening to the news on NDTV yesterday i heard about the Pub Bharo( Click the link to join them on Facebook) and Pink Chaddi Campaigns where they ask woman to throw Pink chaddi to the ALF( Alternative Law Forum) to forward to one of the bullying organizations, the Shri Ram Sene, which has threatened to attack couples found celebrating Valentine's Day. (hooligans) I Believe, We should definitely raise our voice against these thugs.

Out of all, for me Pink is the Color of Love. With Valentines Day around the corner..i wish to have lots and lots of Pinks around me in this season of love...

Wish you all a very Happy Valentines Day!!

Time flies by ………but I have something to tell you after 2 years

My, How time flies..A new year..Happy New Year to all of you. I know its so late to wish for New Years. But have’nt you heard Better Late than never. Don’t know why but I have been using this phrase pretty often This New Year. Does this prove am doing stuff late. Yea I do agree…( confessions rather ..ufffff). Can I confess something else!!! Its been two yrs I blogged. Whatever……lazy, not interested, time management problems but I will say my interest changed to topical blogging. I selected topics for blogging where I always was interested to write like Power of Prayer ( Blog where I talk about leading a successful spiritual life), Know Online Marketing (Insights about Online Marketing). I have not taken resolutions this year. I ve been trying hard from a pretty long time to fulfill one but I think I will need these many years to fulfill one. But I must say 2008 was a year of blessings for me. Praise God for that. I was single when I started 2008 but God blessed me with a family. Looking back to the past year I have many confessions and many blessings to thank for. First half of last yr was time I just don’t wanna think of ( I wish I get amnesia when I think of that) .a hell lot of mess, busy work schedule, pressure at work..i hate it..phhhhhhhh. But this made me to come more closer to god. 2008 was a year of testimony of Gods Goodness in my life. One of the reasons I am back blogging is that I should testify about the gods mercy in my life( guysss pls am not being an angel, talking all the goody goody stuff) but this is the fact of life., a year like never before. As the Bible says “ I will lift up my eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help. My help comes from the Lord who made heaven and Earth.” I have been brought up in a Christian Life. My parents made sure that in every aspect of my life, I had an essence of godliness to it. And I must say I did keep up to my parents expectations and as a normal Christian accepted Christ as my Lord and Saviour and took Water baptism. This is long time back in 1998. But I think I have changed. The zeal for the Lord was like waves in the sea, sometimes it tossed so high to reach the sky and sometimes it was like a dead sea. But God was slowly working in my life. God made me closer to him.

Last yr my parents started pressurizing me for marriage and I was not at all ready for it. I saw couple of men which I felt were all duds. Oh I had a baaad experience which I will tel u in my next blog. Then finally the last one came and things moved forward and in 2 months I was married. The whole thing was so fast as you say “chatt mangni patt shadi.” In my mind I was like why am I doing this. I felt the Holy Spirit telling me this is the one for you. DISCLAIMER: DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME. Please do not thing that this will happen to all of you. I believe God has his own way of dealing with people. And in my mind I knew things will be different like for every girl and on top of that i knew that out of every place in this world I had to be in Vijayawada. Am sure half of you would not know where this place is and imagine I had no idea how I will survive there with some strange telegu speaking people. Yes it’s a small town in Andhra Pradesh. That was like a huge transition. But what made to move on was my immense trust in my Lord. My Lord has perfect plans in my life. During that period, my husband was enjoying a treat from God. He was been promoted few months before marriage, followed by salary hike, other perks. This was period when we all heard about the recession but He was basking away in Gods Glory. Soon in a month of our marriage, we heard a rumor that there will be transfers and job cuts which made us skeptical about what will happen. But then we kept the request in prayer and left it as a rumor which later came to be true that He has a transfer ( many things happened in between) to Mumbai. I was in high spirits though. I just couldn’t control my happiness that I was finally out of that place. Both of us never thought in our wildest dreams that we could ever leave that place so soon. What i believe is God knew that it would be difficult for me to live there and moreover there was very less job prospects. I am into online market and I knew that i would surely will not be able to continue in my field which was very disheartening We were not sure whether recession will hit his job but later when everything was finalized. We came to know My Husband was again transferred with a promotion. In 6 months 2 promotions and 2 salary hikes. What more can u wish for?? Isn’t God so Great ?? But now when i think i know i believed and trusted completely in Gods Purpose in my Life and God honored my desires. It is difficult to explain in words. That’s the experience I must say. This is what bible says God is Good to those who trust in Him and I experienced it. God knows our hearts and will surely answer all our needs. Then we got all busy with the packing. I must confess, in 5 months I packed my stuff 5 times. I was in 5 different places…Delhi, Kerala, Vijayawada, Vishakapatnam, Mumbai…Alas!! I then waited for another 20 days for my husband to go and get house and other formalities done for us to stay in mumbai.

Another big constraint was House in Mumbai. Nothing is as challenging as finding a decent house in Mumbai. After coming here I was just noticing the place and the houses. Looks as if people are stuffed into small boxes. The houses are so dingy. Again we prayed for it and Praise God, what a wonderful house. More beautiful than we could think of with every facility and provision for our living. What I learnt is God is faithful, merciful and Just to those who Love and Trust in HIM. And I daily have started to experience him so closely. I could feel his Holy Spirit so strong in me. Every day the way I live is a miracle. Whatever we pray for, we are seeing our prayers been answered. Through this blog I would request you to pray always, pray without ceasing, do good to others, help and serve others and God. Be faithful with your money. God will surely answer your request but the underline communication is FAITH. You must have Faith as small as the mustard seed. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths ( Proverbs 3:5-6-Bible). For all those who are reading my blog, if you have any prayer request you can email me at rencym10@gmail.com or drop your prayer request in the comments.

God Bless You!!!!

Things I Wish I Would Be More Serious About

Nobody is perfect, even-though we strive hard to be, or do we? Below listed are things that I wish I would have been more serious about. Well, maybe if not "serious" but "committed to" or "dutiful" to do on a daily basis.

Following is a list that comes to the top of my head as I write this:

1) Promising myself daily that i will have Quite time (Quite time doesn't mean that i will keep my mouth shut and let the whole world talk. Its a time spent with God or meditation) and Bible study regularly ( though i do it ) but I still feel guilty about not doing much more than that.
2) Eating the right things, I am getting older and I know I should start taking better care of myself.
3) Playing sports harder than I do, I am lazy but I do play well.
4) Brushing my teeth better than before, things are fine, but I should strive to be better. I always get compliments for having teeth so white
5) Being more patient with people. I am known to do things before time and very quickly and thus I have very less patience. Sometimes that is well transparent to others.
6) Going for prayers ( Power of Prayer)
7) I feel i blog toooo less (hehe...this is my 3rd blog in 2 weeks). Check out for more at Chronicles

I am sure there are more, will update as it comes to my mind.

Just Nuke It.....

While catching up on my reading, i came across this interesting article on news.sky.com where scientists claim to have invented a machine that gives you 8 hour sleep in just 3 hours. By using a technique called Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, scientists can activate slow waves like the ones your brain gives off when you are in your deepest sleep.

"The TMS device transmits magnetic signals which are harmless through the scalp and skull into the brain where it induces electrical impulses."

So is this a good or a bad idea? Let's analyze the pros and cons together.

Pro: You will not have anymore sleepless nights.
Con: No more excuses of "sleepless night"

Pro: Superb for making sure your buddy doesn't wake up till your face painting is over
Con: I'm usually the victim...lolzzz..

Pro: More time to do stuff.
Con: More time to feel bad about how much more i have to finish.

Am really confused after reading this. It's like sticking ingredients in the microwave and getting a tasty treat in a matter of minutes. Only difference is that instead of food, it's your brain! Do you think this technology will prove to be advantageous to humans. Help me...Cast your votes and let me know
